Salena + Harper

Salena reached out to me a few weeks ago on Facebook wanting to capture something pretty special. Her first mothers day was coming up and she wanted to take her daughter to the zoo for the first time.

I couldn't even contain my excitement! Salena ordered her shirts, I purchased my ticket, and we planned our session.

For those of you who live in Cincinnati know that we have had a rainy, or snowy, weekend every weekend this year. A photographers worse nightmare. Mother's day weekend was no different and we had to reschedule.

As Sunday approached rain was once again in the forecast. My anxiety levels were up! We decided to stick it out and go for it. Thank god we did! I captured some of my favorite photos I've ever taken.

Little Ms. Harper was the happiest baby I've ever had the pleasure of shooting with. We had so much fun exploring the zoo and seeing all of the different animals and attractions. The sky was cloudy and there was even thunder at times but the photography gods were looking over us on Sunday. I am not kidding when I say the second I got into my car it started to rain!

It was a perfect session and I really couldn't have asked for better clients. Harper may not remember her first trip to the zoo but she'll have these beautiful photos to look back on. One of the my favorite parts of my job is capturing these priceless moments for these families.

Plus, who doesn't love spending a work day at the zoo?

Harper discovered polar bears, gorillas, giraffes, and so many other different animals for the first time and I was lucky enough capture it all for this beautiful family. Harper even made her first zoo penny! I think she was the only child in history who didn't throw a tantrum at the zoo.

However we didn't go without our hiccups. This baby even looks cute when she's throwing up. Tristan and Salena made a pretty darn cute baby. Swipe right to check them out!

Are you even really a mom if you don't have some baby vomit on your shirt?

We walked around the zoo for about two hours and Harper just couldn't handle all the excitement. She just held on to her mamma and quietly fell asleep. Salena carried her little face around in her palm all around the zoo. It was one of the cutest things I've ever witnessed.

Thank you Salena for trusting me to capture such a special moment in your little family. I had so much fun during our session and can't wait for next time!

A huge thank you to the Cincinnati Zoo for having such a beautiful backdrop for our session. If you're a family or couple who's interested in shooting in this location lets chat!
